Samsung have become known for producing slim, well featured slider handsets that stand out from the crowd. Quite often they push the boundaries at the high end of the market to set new standards in specification and design. The Samsung J600 may be positioned a little lower in the range but this makes it something of a bargain on many of the networks.

The first thing that strikes you is the lack of keys beneath the 1.9 inch 65,000 colour display. The Samsung J600 uses the same touch sensitive technology as the E900 and U600 models, with a central direction pad the only visible button.
Slide the front up to reveal the key pad and you will notice how well spaced the colour coded numerical keys are. Doing this exposes the previously hidden 1.3 megapixel camera situated on the rear of the slide. The camera can be used to capture still or video images and these can then be stored on the 20MB of internal memory, or on a microSD card if inserted in to the slot on the side of the phone. Use the memory card for MP3 music files and the J600 can play your tracks through its built in MP3 player or loudspeaker. It also boasts an FM radio.

Network connectivity is adequate with a tri-band GSM antenna and EDGE for faster web browsing. Users should have no trouble using the J600 both at home and abroad. The Samsung J600 has the ability to connect to a PC via USB, or using the Bluetooth pairing if your computer supports this. Bluetooth also means hands free calling with a suitable headset – ideal for those always on the move.

Produced in four colours, the Samsung J600 will suit any taste whether you want a reserved or bold look. If photo image quality is not high on your list of priorities then the J600 offers something for almost everyone in a very cost effective package. The only criticism being a slightly flimsy feel to the build of the handset which stems from its pared down weight of 85g - a small trade off.
