The Nokia E51 is an enterprise device that forms part of Nokia's E-series
business range. The bar design is both slim at 12mm thick and well laid
out, with Nokia introducing some new short cut keys to help navigate
the Symbian series 60 interface. A delete key is added to email, calendar,
contacts and home screen hot keys. The latter according to Nokia allows
quick access to frequently used applications on a redisigned and customisable
layout.
Specifications-wise, the Nokia E51 is well equipped with
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G. The Nokia E51 supports a variety of email systems,
including Microsoft ActiveSync and Mail for Exchange, Visto Mobile,
and Seven Always-on. Targeted at professionals who value the convenience
of a single device for both business and personal use,
the E51 is capable of integrating with corporate telephony systems (PBX),
which will add the benefits of a desk phone such as extension dialing,
hold, transfer and conferencing to a mobile handset and also call routing
over WLAN networks. VoIP is offered out of the box with Gizmo.
Mobile network connection is taken care of by a quad band GSM antenna
and HSDPA offering 3.6 MBps. Being a series 60 smartphone it is possible
to view web pages as they’re meant to be seen with Nokia web browser.
Quickoffice provides viewers for Microsoft Excel®, Word®, and
PowerPoint® documents Macromedia PDF reader enables user to view
PDF documents and Zip manager provides means for managing ZIP files
received – for example, as an email attachment
Multimedia features include a 2 mega pixel camera for
still and video imaging, viewable on the Nokia E51's colourful 2"
QVGA screen, and an FM radio or MP3 player for music. Audio connectivity
is possible via Bluetooth v2.0 or 2.5mm headset socket. Storage of files
can be shared between the phones 130MB on board memory and a Micro SD
card of up to 4GB. A USB cable is also provided for syncronising data
with your PC.
The Nokia E51 weighs only 100g and offers over 4 hours talk time, very
impressive for a phone boasting all these features.
