Though the looks are familiar, don’t go thinking this is just a lazy re-hash of an old favourite. Though the handset may be slightly smaller in terms of width, the phone is still as thin as a CD-case and more features have been packed in. With a 3.2 Megapixel camera, 3G HSDPA, and a large 2” QVGA display, no-one can accuse Sony Ericsson of resting on their laurels one bit. With an integrated FM radio, Walkman player (obviously) and Track ID, the music features are as strong as ever, building on the success of the W880i. The updated Web browser is not to be overlooked either. An upgraded Net Front browser with an RSS reader is aimed at consolidating the poison of strength established by the W890i’s little brother. By keeping the striking looks of the W880i, and adding more features, this latest addition to the Walkman range is sure to consolidate Sony Ericsson’s position as the master of the music phone. Due for release in the early part of 2008, the W890i still looks like being the premier music phone, even in Sony Ericsson’s considerable range, and is definitely one to look out for. |
