The latest and from the Samsung Ultra range of phones, the Samsung U900 Soul is rumoured to be the last Ultra-range phone to be made by Samsung. Described as standing for "Spirit Of ULtra", the U900 Soul is the smartest Ultra series phone yet. At 12.9mm in a tough brushed-metal casing, the Samsung Soul is a good-looking handset, solid without being too chunky.

Samsung have reached an interesting balance with the U900 Soul in that this slide-phone includes a fully changable touch-panel just below the main-screen to access many features, allowing for the buttons look and actions to be altered to match the functions you are using at the time, but without relying solely on touch-screen, the U900 also slides out for real buttons for the numbers and writing texts to give you a tactile interface as well.

The Samsung U900 Soul comes with a 5 Megapixel camera with image-stabiliser and face-detection technologies thanks to Samsung's digital camera line. While the face-detection is of some use, due to the way mobiles are often used to take quick snapshots at an arm's length, the image-stabilisation is the big winner here as it will allow better realisation of the 5 Megapixel quality consistantly, whatever the situation. Music on the Samsung U900 Soul is supported in a range of popular formats including MP3, eAAC+ and WAV, as well as the onboard FM Radio with RDS support. Storage expansion is available through microSD cards as is common with the rest of the Samsung range.

With Quad-Band GSM and HSDPA 3G connectivity, the Samsung U900 Soul is capable of broadband-speed internet and full network roaming capabilites abroad. Local connectivity is provided through Bluetooth 2.0 (with the A2DP stereo profile for headsets) and USB for wired connection to your computer. The software provided on the U900 Soul covers the standard Office File support along with some internet extras such as the RSS Reader and Mobile Blogging support.
