Apple iPhone 16GB

| For such a high-price the Apple iPhone would really have been a much better offer if the memory had been of a higher capacity or with enhanced features compared to what was actually received. Now we have a newer version which upgrades the internal memory to 16GB from a maximum of 8GB before. This amount of memory does mean that this new edition will be a much better deal for consumers and is also the only music phone on the market at this time with this much memory. Double the memory obviously means more space for music and videos when synced with iTunes as well as any snaps taken with the 2MP camera (which is still the same I'm afraid.) It appears though that the memory capacity is the only upgrade to the original iPhone, which is a bit of a shame really as further tweaks such as 3G or an improved camera would have attracted a lot more custom and further consolidated the iPhones position as one of the most highly-desirable gadgets. To have this much extra memory added onto an already expensive product does come at a price. The current 8GB iPhone is priced at a still-expensive £269 with an 18 month contract, the 16GB version will be priced at £330 and still require you to be tied down to an 18 month contract as before. Interestingly for the same price you can get the new 32GB iPod Touch (obviously without contract) and personally I think that this is a better option if you want to experience the full physical interaction of the Apple Touch UI without being tied down to a long contract. If you want a touchscreen mobile with the most interactive interface the iPhone is still head and shoulders above the competition such as HTC etc. It may also be worth hanging fire for a short while as Apple CEO Steve Jobs is rumoured to be announcing a price drop on the 8GB & 4GB iPhones to bring the UK market in line with those across the pond. |
