The Samsung F300 Ultra Music is an interesting
new take on the convergence of a mobile phone and portable music player.
At first glance it appears both items have been joined back to back
to create one device that requires a simple turn of the hand to operate.
In reality it is almost that simple, only a further button press is
required to activate whichever screen you wish to look at.
Weighing in at only 77g and with an impressive 9.4mm thickness, the
Samsung F300 is light and easy to hold.
Taking the MP3 player side first, you will find a brilliant 262,144
colour 2.1 inch TFT display and a simple four way toggle plus central
select/play buttons. These keys are touch sensitive and allow control
of the Bang & Olufsen 'Ice Power Sound' MP3 player, access to the
in-built FM radio and voice memo, plus further photo album and camera
options. The Samsung F300 is equipped with a 2 mega pixel still and
video imaging camera capable of a 4x digital zoom.
Flipping over to the phone side requires one small button on the chrome
edging to be pressed to activate the somewhat small 1.4 inch 65,636
colour display. In doing so you will also find the key lock button and
micro SD memory card slot. The Samsung F300 Ultra Music contains a 128mb
user memory and will certainly require a sizeable card (2GB maximum)
to get the most from it. Once activated the phone interface is easy
and quick to navigate, making good use of the large and well spaced
keypad. Here you will find all your mobile phone functionality including
world clock, calendar and Bluetooth options as well as further options
for file and camera management.
The Samsung F300 is supplied with a hands-free headset and leather backed
power case that also helps keep the handset charged. Samsung have also
seen fit to include a 3.5mm stereo headset adapter to allow the fitment
of aftermarket headphones ensuring you get the most from this cool and
cutting edge music phone.
